DESCRIPTION:The Rule states: \n“It is essential that the Society continually promote the formation and training of its members and Officers\, in order to deepen their knowledge of the Society and their spirituality\, improve the sensitivity\,  quality and efficiency of their service to the poor and help them be  aware of the benefits\, resources and opportunities that are available  for the poor.” (Rule: Part 1\, 3.12) \nConsider becoming a member of SVDP Rhode Island’s formation team by becoming a formator/presenter. Ray and Pat Sickinger will be presenting a two-phased formator training beginning February 4th. Event Location TBD. \nIf you are interested in attending the training and becoming a formator/presenter\, please read the information and qualifications below\, and reach out to Renee’ at rbrissette@svdpri.org for more information. \nQualifications for Formators/Presenters\nTo become either a formator or presenter a person must be: \n\nan active member of a conference\nExperienced in Home Visits\na Vincentian for at least five years\nan enthusiastic\, confident speaker\ncomfortable with both lecture and discussion/dialogue\ncommitted to sticking to the agenda (both material to be presented and time allotted)\nable to use PowerPoint or willing to learn\navailable to present on Saturday or on several weekday evenings with advanced notice.\n\n  \nPhase 1 of Formation Training\nis a day-long workshop that begins developing Vincentians to provide essential formation training to members such as the Ozanam Orientation. DESCRIPTION:The Rule states:\n“It is essential that the Society continually promote the formation and training of its members and Officers\, in order to deepen their knowledge of the Society and their spirituality\, improve the sensitivity\,  quality and efficiency of their service to the poor and help them be  aware of the benefits\, resources and opportunities that are available  for the poor.” (Rule: Part 1\, 3.12)\n\n\nConsider becoming a member of SVDP Rhode Island’s formation team by becoming a formator/presenter. Ray and Pat Sickinger will be presenting a two-phased formator training beginning June 11.\n\nIf you are interested in attending the training and becoming a formator/presenter\, please read the information and qualifications below\, and reach out to Renee’ at rbrissette@svdpri.org to register\, or for more information.\n\n\nQualifications for Formators/Presenters\nTo become either a formator or presenter a person must be:\n\nan active member of a conference\nExperienced in Home Visits\na Vincentian for at least five years\nan enthusiastic\, confident speaker\ncomfortable with both lecture and discussion/dialogue\ncommitted to sticking to the agenda (both material to be presented and time allotted)\nable to use PowerPoint or willing to learn\navailable to present on Saturday or on several weekday evenings with advanced notice.\n\n\nPhase 1 of Formation Training (June 11)\nis a day-long workshop that begins developing Vincentians to provide essential formation training to members such as the Ozanam Orientation. The workshop will explore the nature and purpose of formation\, servant leadership\, Vincentian Spirituality\, and the roles of trained formators and presenters. The workshop will also acquaint participants with the structure and topics of the Ozanam Orientation.\nPhase 2 of Formation Training (TBD)\ninvolves a day-long practice session. Participants will present a segment(s) of the Ozanam Orientation and receive feedback before they present it to others.

DESCRIPTION:The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an active member of National VOAD\, and SVDP Rhode Island is an active member of the local RI VOAD. Through our VOAD membership\, we partner regularly with our local Red Cross\, 211\, Catholic Charities\, Salvation Army\, CCAP\, and many other interfaith and community organizations. Local and National organizations will be gathered at the Providence Convention Center for our annual meetings and trainings. Consider helping those who help prepare for\, during\, and after disaster strikes.\n\nJUMP ABOARD TO HELP! VOLUNTEER TODAY!\n\nWe need Greeters\, Room Monitors during speakers\, Ticket Collectors\, and General Helpers.\n\nWe are asking for 4-6 hour volunteer slots; however\, if you are interested in volunteering but are unable to do a full shift\, we would still welcome the help.\nVolunteering for 6 or more hours on a particular day entitles you to a ticket to one of the meal sessions and free parking. SUMMARY:Serving in Hope
DESCRIPTION:Serving in Hope is a spiritual formation program designed for those who have already been through Ozanam Orientation.  Vincentians are accustomed to “serving in hope” because we bring the love of God to those who are poor and suffering. Therefore\, all Vincentians must become rooted in the spirituality that is at the heart and soul of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. \nThis program will be held at St. Mark Church on Saturday\, May 5\, from 8:30 am to Noon. We will be working with Module Two: Our Vincentian Spirituality. This module covers topics like \n\nVincentian Charism\nJesus\, Evangelizer and Servant of the Poor\nContemplatives in Action\nJourney together to Holiness\nSacraments and Vincentian Feasts\nMary in Vincentian Spirituality\n\nThis module consists of a video and a Formation Guide program. The video provides an introduction to the Module and a short (4-5 min) presentation for each topic. The Formation Guide provides prayers\, readings\, and a dialogue question for sharing. Participation in the Serving in Hope program will deepen your understanding of what it means to live and act as a Vincentian in the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul and Blessed Frédéric Ozanam. DESCRIPTION:Volunteers needed to help install 1\,000 smoke detectors in homes Rhode Island for free. SVDP has been partnering with the Red Cross throughout the country to help keep our neighbors safe. SVDP Rhode Island has participated in a number of install days over the past year. On this day we will be installing in Cranston\, Warwick\, Providence\, Pawtucket\, and Central Falls. \nJoin us for the National “Sound the Alarm” campaign! No experience needed. Training and supplies are provided\, and we are teamed up with others who lead us through. Teams from other organizations and institutions will be participating.
