DESCRIPTION:Ozanam Orientation will be held on Saturday\, March 21\, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  at Historic St. Joseph Parish Center.  Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Ozanam Orientation is the “basic training” of the Society.  All new Vincentians are required by the Rule of the Society to attend Orientation within six months of joining. Established Vincentians may attend Orientation in order to satisfy their three year refresher training. During Orientation\, we cover the history and spirituality of the Society and the wider Vincentian movement\, examine the Rule\, introduce you to home visits and systemic change\, plus a lot more.  You must attend the full training. \nHistoric St. Joseph offers confessions at 4:00 p.m. and Mass at 5:00 p.m. if you are interested in attending following orientation. \nREGISTRATION CLOSED.

SUMMARY:RI Interactive Disaster Preparedness Workshop: Flood Response & Long-Term Recovery
DESCRIPTION:WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:\nJoin us for a dynamic\, hands-on Interactive Disaster Preparedness Workshop focused on flood response and long-term recovery. In this immersive session\, participants will walk through a realistic flood disaster scenario that spans multiple counties—testing coordination\, communication\, and response strategies across jurisdictions.  Kevin Peach from SVDP National Disaster Services Corp will be facilitating and providing the training.  After lunch there will be presentations/trainings from a few of our Community Partners such as RI VOAD (Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters)\, Red Cross\, Catholic Charities\, and RI EMA.  REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. \nLIMITED SPACE – 50 FREE SPOTS.  This training is covered by a grant of SVDP Rhode Island.   Donations are accepted.  Lunch and light coffee-and is included.   \nINVITED ATTENDEES:  Vincentians\, Knights of Columbus\, and Catholic Charities members. \nHOTEL ROOMS AVAILABLE: Hotel rooms are available at the Crowne Plaza at a discount $100 per night + plus applicable taxes and fees.  There is a small block of rooms being held.  THIS IS NOT COVERED IN THE TRAINING.  THIS IS AN EXPENSE TO EACH PERSON WHO BOOKS A ROOM.  \nThrough guided exercises\, participants will explore the complexities of real-time decision-making during a flood event\, including resource sharing\, evacuation coordination\, and inter-agency communication. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Ozanam Weekend – Saturday\, April 26 at St. Therese Church and Shrine in Burrillville for a day of faith\, formation\, and fun with friends at this year’s Member Forum. \nThe Member Forum begins with 8:30 a.m. Mass in the Church\, followed by coffee-and and registration in the church hall in the lower level.  The morning will be presentations\, presentations\, and updates.  It ends with a lunch and friendship at approximately 1:30 p.m.. \nImmediately following lunch\, we are excited to offer an optional afternoon at the Shrine including of a prayerful tour and presentation hosted by Sr. Grace who resides at the Shrine.  It will include a guided\, prayerful tour of the rosary walk\, outdoor stations\, veneration of St. Therese’s relic\, and Divine Mercy chaplet in the Shrine’s chapel.  This Shrine is a National Shrine and a hidden treasure of our Diocese.  (Fun Fact: St. Therese’s father and brother were Vincentians.  St. Therese’s mom and family all helped support the Vincentian works.) \nRegister below for either just the morning member forum\, or for the full day which includes the special afternoon guided\, prayerful tour of the Shrine! \nRegistration is now closed. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Join us for an IN-PERSON Ozanam Orientation on September 30\, 2023. Ozanam Orientation is the “basic training” of the Society. All new Vincentians are required by the Rule of the Society to attend Orientation within six months of joining us. Established Vincentians may attend Orientation in order to satisfy their three year refresher training. During Orientation\, we cover the history and spirituality of the Society and the wider Vincentian movement\, examine the Rule\, introduce you to home visits and systemic change\, plus a lot more. \nThis Orientation will be held at St. Philip Parish Center\, 622 Putnam Pike\, Greenville\, RI 02828\, on September 30\, 2023. DESCRIPTION:The Rule states: \n“It is essential that the Society continually promote the formation and training of its members and Officers\, in order to deepen their knowledge of the Society and their spirituality\, improve the sensitivity\,  quality and efficiency of their service to the poor and help them be  aware of the benefits\, resources and opportunities that are available  for the poor.” (Rule: Part 1\, 3.12) \nConsider becoming a member of SVDP Rhode Island’s formation team by becoming a formator/presenter. Ray and Pat Sickinger will be presenting a two-phased formator training beginning February 4th. Event Location TBD. \nIf you are interested in attending the training and becoming a formator/presenter\, please read the information and qualifications below\, and reach out to Renee’ at rbrissette@svdpri.org for more information. \nQualifications for Formators/Presenters\nTo become either a formator or presenter a person must be: \n\nan active member of a conference\nExperienced in Home Visits\na Vincentian for at least five years\nan enthusiastic\, confident speaker\ncomfortable with both lecture and discussion/dialogue\ncommitted to sticking to the agenda (both material to be presented and time allotted)\nable to use PowerPoint or willing to learn\navailable to present on Saturday or on several weekday evenings with advanced notice.\n\n  \nPhase 1 of Formation Training\nis a day-long workshop that begins developing Vincentians to provide essential formation training to members such as the Ozanam Orientation.
